Seven Major Temples In Andhra Pradesh Will Now Become Energy Efficient

Andhra Pradesh is on a steady path towards becoming the number one in the country in energy efficiency activities; with several innovative energy saving hacks like LEDs and more. Now, it is taking another step by launching the Energy-Efficient Endowments Project (EEEP) in seven major temples in a bid to conserve a massive 60 lakh units of power and 200 tons of LPG fuel per annum.

As part of the initiative, the government has selected seven major temples at Srisailam, Vijayawada (Kanakadurga temple), Srikalahasti, Kanipakam, Dwaraka Tirumala, Simhachalam and Annavaram for taking up energy efficiency measures.

The State Energy Conservation Mission has already conducted a detailed study of energy consumption pattern and feasibility for measures like replacing all types of bulbs and fans with LED bulbs and energy-efficient fans, installing solar powered LED street lights and replacing the electrical geysers with solar water heaters.
