NEW CMO INAUGURATED AT AMARAVATI BY AP CM CHANDRABABU NAIDU

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated his office at the newly-built Transitional Headquarters and Secretariat at Velagapudi in Amaravati. The CM’s Office in the first block was completed along with chambers and offices of all Naidu’s Cabinet colleagues last week. Four of the six blocks at Velagapudi known as the temporary secretariat are ready and a majority of the government departments, heads of departments, secretaries and staff have already shifted and started working from October 3. Naidu broke a pumpkin and coconut amidst chanting by priests at 8:09 am and stepped into his office. Hundreds of Secretariat employees, ministers, MLAs and TDP leaders attended the inauguration.

The temporary secretariat was opened in the last week of June as per the deadline set by the CM for the government to move from Hyderabad but except for a few offices and officials, all the offices could not move to the new secretariat building as work was incomplete, although they moved to temporary offices at Vijayawada. The heavy rains also caused lot of inconvenience as vehicles got stuck in the mud on the way to the Velagapudi, 31 kms from Vijayawada.

Of the six blocks at Velagapudi, block one is for the CM and his offices, one is for Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, and the remaining four are for the other departments. Officials said that a central Command and Control Centre is also being set up in the first block as the CM wants to keep tabs by live monitoring of various activities of the government across the state.
