AMARAVATI SHOPPING FESTIVAL STARTS TODAY

Andhra Pradesh Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the Amaravati Shopping Festival at 7 pm today. The festival will be begin on a grand scale at four different venues, PWD Grounds, Tummalapalli Kalakshetram, Punnami ghat and Padmavati ghat. While PWD Grounds and Punnami ghats have 183 and 150 stalls respectively, about 200 more stalls have been set up at the other two venues. “All arrangements have been made. Already, cultural programmes have begun last week and the public are coming in large numbers,” said the officials from AP Tourism which is organizing the festival. The entry for the shopping festival is free and the festival is open round-the-clock. “Amaravati Shopping Festival will be open till October 29 and visitors can come at any time,” the officials said.

The stalls will include the exhibition-cum-sale of automobiles, jewellery, handicrafts, handlooms, textiles, home appliances, decor and others. The organisers said that cultural programmes will feature singers, actors and artistes from film industry. “Food courts and amusement for children have also been set up at the venues. It will be nothing short of a carnival,” the officials added.

While the stalls have been arranged, the vendors are yet to occupy them. The officials said that the stalls will be opened as soon as the inauguration is done by the CM. “Registrations are still going on. More people are evincing interest in setting up stalls here,” the officials observed.
