6 Pack Band – India’s First Transgender Music Band


Six transgender persons from Mumbai and elsewhere were selected from a group of around 200 who auditioned to be a part of the band. The youth wing of Yash Raj Films, Yfilms, led by Ashish Patil, is the team behind the formation of this band. The six-member group is touted as India’s first transgender band.
Titled ‘Hum Hai Happy’, the band’s first song is out which is a cover version of Pharell Williams song, ‘Happy’. The band has been launched and supported by none other than Sonu Nigam.

The video of this album begins with Anushka Sharma’s voiceover. The actress even shared the video on her Twitter profile. She captioned it as “Where words fail, music speaks”.

The next song by ‘6 pack’ is expected to release on January 26, which will feature Sonu Nigam. The song has been titled ‘Sab Rab De Bande’.

“When I was a child, I used to think what if I was born in a planet where people like me were in minority and others were majority… What would happen to me, my family because of that.” – Sonu Nigam.
