A hoarding placed right next to the Visakhapatnam airport saying “MI welcomes you to Vizag” has sparked off speculation that Xiaomi looking to set up manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh, the sunrise state.

After landing in Vizag yesterday Xiaomi’s global VP Hugo Barra had posted a picture with the hoarding, leading to chatter that the Chinese investor will be the first among many others interested in the Make In India campaign, which has gained traction in the recent months.
Posting the picture, Barra said :
“GOOD MORNING VIZAG! This is what you see as you walk out of the Visakhapatnam airport arrival terminal this weekend. We’re about to take a huge step forward here in India! Can you take a guess?”

The guessing part was closed by CM Chandrababu Naidu with this tweet:

This morning Hugo Barra posted another picture of Make in India Campaign at Novotel Hotel, Visakhapatnam.
The government of Andhra Pradesh has also taken the campaign in full fervor, with close to around 267 new industries choosing the sunrise state for setting up shop. Xiaomi is one of the many other firms looking to grab a piece of the pie in Vizag. And soon there’s going to be a Xiaomi Manufacturing Plant in India.

Vizag has positioned itself as an attractive investment destination, which has made many potential companies sit up and take notice. The government has also been very focused on characterizing Vizag as a futuristic city, especially with the Vizag metro, which is moving ahead at a fast pace.
