Anurag Sharma, the Director General of Police, Telangana, launched a new app – HydCop on Monday. This new app enables the police to be more efficient as it gives them access to all the police databases; along with all the CCTV feeds in the state.
With this new app, the police can check about the crime history of particular place or person in their smart phones and thus enabling them make whatever move that is necessary. This app now available for Windows, Android and IOS.
After launching the app, Mr. Sharma said that this mobile application is especially made for Hyderabad police. “With today’s technology, every frontline officer equipped with a smartphone could receive real-time intelligence feeds pushed directly to the relevant mobile devices from Technology Fusion Centre,” the DGP said.
Explaining about the newly launched App, Hyderabad police commissioner M Mahender Reddy said that Hyderabad COP is a mobile based application for internal use by Hyderabad city police. The police can get access to all the IT applications and databases currently being used by the police through this app. It facilitates the city cops to capture the details of the incident happened in the form of photos, videos or voice notes and can send them to the officials with the help of Incident Management option available in it.
Another functionality that is included in the app is ‘Third Eye’; and it helps them in identifying suspects by checking their vehicle registration or mobile number on the spot. With the ‘Jail Release Management’ function in the app; the cops can access all the information about offenders, including their current imprisonment status.
