Telangana Deputy CM Makes Stupid Comment About Sindhu | This is How Twitter Reacts

While the Telangana government arranged a grand homecoming ceremony for the Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu and her coach, the legendary Pullela Gopichand, recently; the deputy CM made a comment that irked off all Indians.

“Sindhu is our daughter and she has made us proud. We are planning to give Sindhu a better coach so that she can fetch gold next time”, said Mahmood Ali, the Deputy CM.

Gopichand who was a recipient of the Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, the prestigious Padma Bhushan, selflessly founded the Gopichand Badminton Academy that produced some excellent players like Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Srikanth Kidambi, Parupalli Kashyap.

The man did not take a moment of hesitation to go ahead with this step even if he had to mortgage his own house for the academy. His wife PVV Lakshmi who was an 8-time national badminton champion, represented India at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. She recently said that Sindhu is lucky enough to have the facilities, the guidance and a good coach which she did not have back then in 1996.

Gopichand is a legendary player who, with great dedication and passion, set up the world class Badminton Academy much before the TRS government even came into power. There is no one who could have trained Sindhu better than Gopi.

Twitterati in the country gave a good response for Mr. Mahmood Ali’s comment.

If there is any coach in the world that could help Sindhu fetch a gold medal at the 2020 Olympics, it is Gopichand, undoubtedly.

We at South Report congratulate Sindhu on this massive achievement and we hope Gopichand will now enable her to get a gold in the next Olympics.
