To encourage sports in the state, the government is making preparations to install a “Play Field” in every constituency. On account of this, the sports department will facilitate a collective inauguration with the corresponding MLAs on the 29th of this month. The Sports minister has stated that the government will allocate sport goods worth Rs. 1 crore to each district.
Besides, the SAAP grounds in Guntur, Kadapa, Eluru, Kakinada, Nellore and Tirupati are to be modernized by the government and also it is decided that Rs. 15 crore is to be allocated to develop the Kodi Ramamurthy grounds in Srikakulam. A model is going to be released in the month end so as to appoint coaches all across the state on a big scale.
“We received proposals from the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) for 52 playfields in the State. We have taken sprucing up 40-odd playfields in various mandals and villages. Preferably if the playfields are in the premises of a school or a college thousands of students can practice and hone their pursuits,” said, Special Chief Secretary for Youth Services and Sports L.V. Subrahmanyam.
“Coaches from cities and towns will visit these playfields once in 15 days for coaching,” he added.
