A NEW FLYOVER NEAR NAD JUNCTION IN VIZAG, DESIGN TO BE FINALIZED NEXT MONTH

A new flyover is soon going to be constructed across NAD Kotha Road, which is the busiest junction in the city of Visakhapatnam. The sole objective of building this flyover is to ease the traffic congestion and the design for the proposed flyover would be finalised next month after Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu gives the green signal for the design. According to sources, the design of the multi-layer flyover is ready and the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) officials are waiting for the call from the CM’s office for the Go-sign.

The foundation stone of the Rs 140-crore flyover project will be laid in November and it would be completed in less than two years. “We are waiting for the meeting with the chief minister. We are prepared for the meeting. Due to summits and recent rains, the meeting has been delayed,” said VUDA vice-chairman Baburao Naidu.

The flyover will have an underpass in the middle and a rotary system over it for the pedestrians and vehicles. Though multiple corporations were involved in the project, the GVMC will be main stakeholder while VUDA will give engineering support. The flyover will ease the traffic by covering all four roads leading to Simhachalam, Marripalem, Airport and NSTL.
