An Integrated Rural Development for Improved Water, Sanitation and Livelihood Project being implemented by M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) with the support of Mitsubishi Corporation as part of its CSR activities was launched today by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Consulate General of Japan Seiji Baba and MSSRF founder M.S. Swaminathan.
Something very interesting happened there. Usually, these conferences have their proceedings in English , but keeping in sync with the traditions and customs of the local population , the Mitsubishi official gave his address in Telugu, delighting the dignitaries and eliciting a hearty round of applause. The Chief Minister seemed in a jovial mood and was visibly touched by the gesture, even remarking “He has to talk in Telugu language . We have to talk in Japanese language from here onwards “
The delegate was clearly flustered, struggling to pronounce the word “Kruthnagathalu” . To you sir , we say Kyūkō kansha , the Japanese equivalent of expressing our gratitude.
This is a part of the state’s commitment to making villages smarter, which will begin with eight villages in the Krishna district. The project is a venture aimed at integrating communities with the vision of building communication networks and resources by easing administrative processes.
