The teaser puts us in the Hall of Faces below the House of Black and White in Braavos, where Arya Stark had gone to train to become a Faceless Man, an elite assassin in this world. We hear voices from the past while seeing their death masks — Ned Stark, Catelyn Stark, Jon Snow, Joffrey Baratheon.
But there are a few living characters whose faces grace the wall, including Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen. Could this be a sign that Jon Snow might not be dead after all, as so many suspect? Or is it just a very “Game of Thrones” way of telling the audience not to get too attached to characters, no matter how important, that everyone will end up dead one day?
There’s much to go on here as we end with a shot of the remaining survivors of the show in the crypt. It does set a pretty bleak tone to the upcoming season.
