FRESH DEMAND FOR TWO MORE DISTRICTS IN TELANGANA

With Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao approving for four new districts in Telangana, there has been a lot of demand for more number of districts along with the protests to bring up pressure on the government. Exactly a day after the proposal to create districts for Gadwal, Jangoan, Sircilla and Asifabad was considered and approved by the Chief Minister, the demand for two more districts is now amplified. Local Joint Action Committees (JACs) and political parties have started their demand for the creation of Narayanpet in Mahabubnagar and Utnoor in Adilabad. Adilabad and Mahabubnagar are individually divided into four districts each, already.

With Gadwal getting a green signal, MLA for Narayanpet, S Rajender Reddy, who is now in TRS, has supposedly decided to resign from his position. According to his close associates, Mr. Reddy has made this decision following the decision of State Government making Gadwal a district.

“We will fight until Narayanpet Mandal is made a district”, said Dr. Manohar Goud, convener for the Joint Action Committee. The demand for a tribal district in Adilabad, which is already divided into four districts has gained strength. The protesters are now seeking the creation of Utnoor district.

Adivasi leaders and activists called for Utnoor bandh, demanding the government to form Adivasi district with Utnoor as headquarters.
