The last time Chandrababu Naidu tied up with Bill Gates, a lot changed and Hyderabad became a major IT hub in the country. A lot more is all set to happen in Andhra Pradesh now as Chandrababu Naidu and Bill Gates might have several tie-ups for the state soon.
Having held a 30-minutes teleconference with Bill Gates on Friday, Mr. Naidu spoke about various aspects including possible tie-ups between the state and Gates Foundation. To this, Mr. Gates gave assurances saying his foundation will provide world class medical equipment to the state and requested the Chief Minister to extend support to programmes jointly organised by the foundation and the State government.
According to a release from the CMO, members of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will visit Andhra Pradesh in August and undertake talks with the state government on procurement of health care equipment, e-Pragati and other issues. The foundation is keen on extending its activities to primary and intermediary healthcare in the State. The foundation is already involved in urban sanitation and currently works with the SERP. The government is also keen on utilising the services of the foundation in taking forward its projects like e-Pragati.
Mr. Gates was also asked to be an advisor on the e-Pragati programme, which is the government’s flagship programme that aims to empower citizens to be active participants in the governance process.
