Andhra Pradesh Government Allocates Rs. 250 Crore for Amaravati Metro
On Thursday, the Andhra Pradesh Government, led by Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, took a decision to allocate Rs. 250 crore for the construction of Amaravati Metro.
The Chief Minister’s Office will approve the first installment of Rs. 100 Crores in this week while the remaining Rs. 150 Crores will be disbursed within a month.
This assurance by the Andhra Pradesh CMO took place when E Sreedharan, the eminent engineer, met Mr. Naidu at the camp office in Vijayawada.
Land acquisition which is key to the effort will cost a whopping Rs. 750 crores. The Rs. 250 Crores allocated will be utilized to purchase land for the construction of stations. 25 stations will be built along the two corridors connecting Amaravati, for which, 40 cents of land for each station has already been identified by the Revenue and Municipal departments after surveying. Metro officials are getting ready to begin the process of land acquisition from Vijayawada – Eluru road.
An interesting point to be taken into consideration here is that the Central Government allocated only Rs. 10 crore towards the construction of the Amaravati Metro. The Rs. 10 crore won’t be enough even to cover the building of one single station!
